With the help of two great dads and assistant coaches, I just finished my 1st season of coaching the elementary (recreational and competitive) basketball programs at Pinecrest - Cadence in Henderson, NV.
Most of these kids started with little to no experience. Basketball was nothing more than a new activity and, for some parents, a productive way to keep their children active and healthy. Over time, however, our team began to change. They began to grow.
They showed up to practice every week, had a lot of fun and worked really hard to learn new skills and play together as a team. They were dribbling the ball, their jump shots were flying in the air. They were running really hard and starting to play really good defense.
By the end of the year, coaches and parents were very happy to see how much their children had made progress and as I watched them play their very last game, I couldn't help but feel excited about what our team had accomplished.
This was the beginning of a great program at an amazing school and I couldn't have been more proud and honored to be their coach.
Thank you Coach Myers for giving me the opportunity and responsibility to coach a great group of kids. Thank you to all the parents and Pinecrest staff who showed their support, came to our games and cheered for the young Cougars at Pinecrest - Cadence.
And last but not least, a special thank you to Coach David and Coach Rob. You guys did an amazing job! I appreciate your dedication, admire you both as fathers and couldn't have done this without you.
See you guys next season!!!
